育才学校的前身是基督教培贤女子神学院，始建于1920年。解放后，由市人民政府接管办起工农速成中学。1953年8月，改为广州市育才小学。1956年，育才小学与市立东区二小、东区八小、私立道青小学合并为保安街二小，后称寺贝通津小学。1960年9月，由市教育局指定进行十年一贯制试验，与市七中合为广州师院附属实验学校。1964年，复名寺贝通津小学。1986年9月开始在三至五年级开设体育班。1988年——1989年度先后招收小学和初中一年级体育生，并于1988年5月定名为“东山区育才体育运动实验学校”，后又定名为“东山区育才学校”。2001年被评为广州市一级学校。2003年2月，育才学校与育鹰小学、水均岗小学三所学校合并，搬迁到东风东路782号，保留了“东山区育才学校”的校名。

育才小学
埔区政府管理。最初命名为黄埔港民办小学；1965年9月改名为港湾小学；1969年9月，学校扩大招生，开设了一年级至初中二年级，改名为育才学校；1972年9月，小学与中学分开，小学搬进现校址，再次命名为育才小学至今。 [1]
